President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has said that the impact of Covid-19 has revealed the vulnerability of the country’s economy, hence the revenue collection and remittances needed to be critically examined.
Lawan stated this in his opening remarks at the 2021 budget presentation by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly Thursday
He said, ”As our revenue plummeted we resorted to borrowing to fund some critical infrastructure. Our revenue collection and remittances need to be critically examined. Due to inadequate revenue government had to borrow to finance infrastructure, it is important that we diversify our source of funding of our programs and projects.”
