Impact Hub launches New Economy Booster

Impact Hub Lagos has announce the launch of its New Economy Booster programme. The event took place on Friday, 28th of August via Zoom. This launch event kicked off the first phase of the programme featured a panel session and several breakout sessions. The New Economy Booster programme was developed in collaboration with Labs of Tomorrow and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Speaking to the Impact Hub MD, Patrick Eromosele, he mentioned that, ‘ The New Economy Booster, which is open to five broad-based industries such as the creative industry, healthcare, education, agriculture and trade, will provide entrepreneurs with access to resources that they need to ensure their sustainability post-Covid-19. We know the environment that we are in, and from all indications, we know that recession is almost inevitable. This programme is about looking at what the facts are and the fact that we are going to need very deliberate actions, if we’re going to recover economically from the effects of Covid-19.’

The New Economy Booster programme is open to impact-driven entrepreneurs with both advanced and early-stage ventures, high-potential start-ups, non-profit organizations and initiatives based in Ghana or Nigeria. It’s scheduled to run for seven months and in the tailor-made online package, successful candidates will get a range of customized content and strategies to advance their business. They will also get peer support from other participants, access partnership building opportunities when they work and meet at an Impact Hub space (subsequent to the removal Covid-19 induced gathering restrictions). Each of the 250, will be pruned down to 50, who will be getting hours of mentoring by connecting them to the global network for support, while a final 15 will be selected and given “a very hands-on acceleration investment readiness programme.”

The establishment’s innovation lead Kristin Wilson said the event was “just a snippet of what is to come”, adding that, “with the NEB program, entrepreneurs get access to one-on-one mentorship with leaders in their sectors, from agriculture to health to the creative industry.”
