The federal government has inaugurated an eight-man panel to investigate allegations of fraud levelled against the Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mr. Adebayo Somefun, and other top management staff of the fund.

The National President of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Alhaji Ibrahim Khaleel, is heading the probe panel with the Director of Human Resources in the National Productivity Centre, Mrs. E. Ogriki, serving as secretary/member.

While inaugurating the panel on behalf of the Minister of Labour and Employment, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. William Alo, said the panel will among other terms of references, look into all the infractions raised by the Accountant General of the Federation at the periodic audit between 2015 -2019 as well as the administrative report of the accountant general within the same period.

He said the panel has three weeks from the date of inauguration to submit its report.

The minister charged the members of the investigative panel to ensure due diligence and thoroughness in the discharge of their national assignment.

He said that the panel has a duty to purge the NSITF of negative connotations acquired since the past NSITF board and management once and for all.
