Armed Robber Kills Colleague in Ondo

A suspected robber early thursday mistakenly shot dead his colleague while trying to escape after they had robbed a Point of Sales (POS) operator in Okitipupa, headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred after the two men had successfully robbed the attendant of the PoS of undisclosed amount of money.

The courageous attendant was said to have raised the alarm which attracted members of the public.

The source disclosed that as the robbers were being pursued by the people of the area, one of the robbers shot into the air to scare the people.

“However, the robber mistakenly shot his colleague on the head, which killed him instantly,” the source said.

Arriving the scene of the incident, men of the Nigeria Police Force, Okitipupa Division, recovered two guns, the bag that was stolen from the PoS operator and clothes belonging to one of the robbers.

The suspected robber who shot his colleague was later arrested by the police while the remains of the robber had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Okitipupa.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPPO), Mr. Tee-Leo Ikoro, said the police command has commenced investigation on the matter.
