The Senate on Thursday passed for second reading the revised N10.59 trillion 2020 budget estimate after senators had taken their turn to debate the general principle of the budget.

The Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, set the ball rolling with his lead debate on the reviewed budget proposal with Senators Matthew Urhoghide, Opeyemi Bamidele, Ibrahim Oloriegbe and Uche Ekwuenife, among others, contributing to the budget debate.

After the debate, President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, put the question to his colleagues whether to pass the revised 2020 budget for second reading to which they echoed “yes”.

He, thereafter, referred the amendment bill to the Senate Committee on Appropriation headed by Senator Barau Jibrin for further legislative duties.

The committee, Lawan further said, has up till Tuesday, June 2, to finish its work for submission to Senate at plenary.
