Buhari Participates in Virtual UN World Forum on Development Financing

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently participating in a virtual United Nations (UN) world forum on Financing for Development in the Era of COVID-19 and Beyond.

Buhari is participating in the event on the invitation of the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres.

The meeting, it was learnt, is jointly hosted by the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau and the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness.

The forum, it was also learnt, seeks to evolve concrete solutions to development emergency, as a joint initiative aimed at sharpening and accelerating global response to the economic and human impacts of COVID-19.

The meeting is being attended by over 50 world leaders and international organisations including President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.

Buhari was joined at the meeting by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama; Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, and his two media aides, Messrs Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu.
