Covid-19: Lawan Distributes Palliatives to Constituents in Yobe North

The President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, has distributed foodstuffs to cushion the effect of Covid-19 pandemic among his constituents in Yobe North senatorial district.

The beneficiaries included thousands of residents of Damaturu and six local government areas namely Bade, Nguru, Jakusko, Yusufari, Karasuwa and Machina that make up the senatorial district.

The distribution of the palliatives was in phases with the first two phases resulting in the sharing of seven trucks of rice, 10 trucks of sugar, four trucks of millet and 3,000 cartons of turkey oil among other consumables and food items to the people.

The distribution of the palliatives, which commenced with the first phase on April 28, the second phase on May 9, will be concluded with the third phase to be carried out on Thursday, May 21, to complement the Ramadan celebrations.

The gesture by Lawan was aimed at providing relief materials to residents of Damaturu, the state capital and his constituency, who are affected by the lockdown policy following the spread of the Covid-19 disease.

The distribution of palliatives was accompanied with the provision of infrared thermometers, chemicals for disinfection, spraying machines, hand sanitizers, masks, gloves and boots.

Also to be provided are Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to some hospitals across the various local governments in Yobe North Senatorial District.
