Four persons have been allegedly killed and one other kidnapped in a communal clash that erupted between Odekpe town and Alla community both in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.

THISDAY gathered that the clash took place last Monday, when youths of both communities mobilised against each other over lingering boundary dispute between them.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) spokesperson in Anambra State, Edwin Okadigbo, who confirmed the death of four indigenes of the area, said the escalation of hostilities was averted by Anambra West Divisional Office of the Corps.

Okadigbo, while confirming the deaths, said: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the two communities clashed with each other and in the process four persons allegedly lost their lives. One other was kidnapped while most houses were burnt and properties destroyed.

“The state Command of the Corps has dispatched Operatives of Peace and Conflicts unit, Intelligence unit and other tactical squads of the Command to the area to avert further clashes, and in the process, maintain law and order.

“Commandant David Bille has ordered for a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident too.”
