#DecadeOfYouthEvent At UN HQ Deliberates On SDG 2030

In the United Nations secretariat in New York, USA on the 4th March 2020 youths and leaders from all over the world were at UN HQ with a common goal of impacting and re-orienting today’s youth on sustainable development.

Producer Daniel Edah aka Deo was among the youth representatives who were at the event tagged #DecadeOfYouthAction as one of the African youth representatives. He said it was a privilege to be part of the event and the generation concerned about the future of the world and how we can all develop lasting methods to achieve the ultimate sustainable goals for a better tomorrow.

The aim of the gathering was to begin conversations with a view to building a bridge between the older generation and today’s generation. The crux of the talk centered around SDGs and was marked by dialogues and campaigns around climate change emergency, world peace, conflict resolution, gender inequality, child labour, human trafficking, poverty, inadequate education and health facilities. This decade, the focus is on action and mobilisation of the youth to achieve SDGs 2030.

Sustainable Development Goals or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”. The SDGs were set in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030.

Daniel says that after participating in the event he came to realize that the only thing constant is change and that it doesn’t matter where you are around the world, you can make a change and impact lives in your own niche in your own little way.
