Kidnapped Lagos Fire Director, Six Others Regain Freedom

The Director of Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Rasaki Musibau, and six others who were kidnapped at Ketu-Ereyun, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, have regained freedom unhurt on Tuesday night.

The police have also arrested two suspects who were part of the gang that allegedly abducted Musibau and six others

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Lagos State Police Command for the state, Bala Elkana, confirmed their freedom yesterday in a statement in Lagos.

The victims were abducted by suspected kidnappers on Saturday night at about 8p.m. at Ketu-Ereyun, along Itokin -Epe road.

The PPRO said the victims regained freedom at about 11.45 p.m.

“The victims have since reunited with their families. The Command’s Tactical teams are still in the creeks and forests, combating the hoodlums.

“A watertight security measures are in place across the state to forestall future occurrence.

“The command deeply appreciates the support of Lagos State Government and the good people of the state for their useful information that facilitated the prompt rescue of the victims,” he said.

Elkana, however, did not mention if any ransom was paid.

Meanwhile, Elkana revealed that the police have arrested two suspects who were part of the gang that allegedly abducted Musibau and six others

He said the two suspects, Blessing Bayo, 29; and Smart Alfred, 32, who are both from Ondo State were arrested in Ibafun, a boundary town with Ogun State.

According to Elkana, the arrest was made possible following a sustained and well-coordinated operation by the command’s tactical teams led by the Officer in Charge of Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Bulus Musa.

“Two members of the kidnapping gang that abducted the Director of Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau and six others on Saturday at about 8p.m. have been arrested.

“The suspects namely, Blessing Bayo, 29, and Smart Alfred, 32, all of Arogbo, Ondo State were arrested on Wednesday at about 5.30a.m. at Ibafun along Ikorodu- Ijebu Ode Express Way, a boundary community with Ogun State.

“They all confessed to the commission of the crime. Two single-barrel guns were recovered from them.

“Investigation is ongoing and efforts are on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang,” he said.
