40 Years After, Champion Breweries to Pay Dividends

 About 40 years after its establishment, Champion Breweries has promised to commence payment of dividends to shareholders.

The company established in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in 1979, is the producer of Champion Beer and Champ Malta.

The management, recently honoured dozens of its distributors   in   different   categories with various awards and gifts items which included tricycles, fans, among others, during the 2018 distributors’ award ceremony of the company held in Uyo.

Speaking at the meeting, the Managing Director of Champion Breweries, Mr. Patrick Ejidoh, said for the first time since the company was established in 1979, it was becoming profitable and ready to start paying dividends to shareholders.

 Ejido, who joined Champion Breweries with 32 years working experience at the Nigeria Breweries Plc said: “The days when this company wobbled and fumbled is over. We are taking every step necessary to ensure the business is sustainable. Right now, Champion beer and Champ Malta are gathering momentum in the market.”

 Ejido, who expressed delight that the new management of the company under his watch had been able to hold the second distributors’ award since it started in 2017, said it was clear that the business was and eager to break into new markets.

 He revealed that some steps taken to reposition the company included to remodel the bottles to modern standard, training of staff, adding that, “the efforts we are making is bearing fruits and I want to assure our shareholders that next year we shall pay dividends of 2019.”

The Managing Director encouraged the distributors to work harder to win awards, promising that next year the gift items will be bigger and better.

 Also, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, Dr. Elijah Akpan, said the company had undergone great transformation under the current management.

He   expressed   confidence   that   with   the   synergy between the board, management and staff of the company, the current strides witnessed in the company would be surpassed.

 According to him, huge investments had been made to remodel the bottles to modern standards and a lot of investment was made in human resources development.

Akpan thanked staff and management for working so hard to improve the fortunes of the company in such a short time.
