Elders, entrepreneurs in Esan West, Igueben LGAs commend Obaseki on road infrastructure

As construction of roads continue across Edo State, elders and small-scale business operators in Esan West and Igueben Local Government Areas, have hailed Governor Godwin Obaseki for the projects, which have revived economic activities in their localities.

Residents and business owners in Moscow-Ukpenu-Market Square Road, in Ekpoma, Esan West LGA, in a chat with journalists, described the construction work on the roads as a huge relief, as people are now able to transact business with ease.

The Ojiezele of Ekpoma, Chief Paul Ivbagbosoria, said the attention given to the road by Governor Obaseki shows his passion to evenly spread projects across the state, noting, “Before now, we found it difficult to go through the road. It was so bad then that people could not walk through. Economic activity was grounded. We appreciate the governor for bringing succour to us with the repair ongoing on the road.”

Commending the state government for ongoing road construction across Esanland, Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Esan West LGA, Elder Pius Omofuoma said the poor state of roads in the council was a major challenge people in the area lived with in the past.

Omofuoma expressed appreciation to the governor for the rehabilitation work noting, “I believe the state government has done so well in the area of infrastructural development in Esan West in particular and in the entire state in general.”

A food vendor operating along Bank Road, in Igueben, Mrs. Patience Onine, said the rehabilitation work on the road has improved economic activities for many small business owners in the local council, noting: “Motorists hardly ply this road when it was in a bad shape and it affected businesses along this road. But today, the story is different because the road has been repaired. Our sales have improved considerably.”

Chairman, Igueben LGA, Hon. Jossy Ogedegbe, said, “Igueben is largely agrarian and work on the roads has helped farmers evacuate their farm produce from the hinterlands to markets.”

“Having to transport farm produce from farms through bad roads to markets caused damage on some of the produce, as farmers often incur losses. But with the good roads across the council area, the farmers are happy, and farming activities have continued to boom.
