Emeka Ihedioha, yesterday joined the valedictory session at the House of Representatives chamber to honour a late lawmaker, Hon. Bethel Amadi, who passed on recently at the age of 55.

The House Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, also announced the adjournment of plenary till next Tuesday in honour of the late lawmaker representing Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal constituency of Kebbi State, Hon. Mohammed Dantani.

Dantani reportedly died on Friday, March 29, after a brief illness.

Amadi, who represented Mbaitoli/Ikeduru federal constituency of Imo State on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, died in London after a protracted battle with soft tissue cancer.

The late three-term lawmaker was also the immediate-past president of the Pan-African Parliament between 2012 and 2015. He also served as the Chief Whip of the House under Etteh.

The duo of former Speakers Etteh and Tambuwal, paid glowing tributes to the deceased lawmaker, particularly for his steadfastness, dexterity and forthrightness, saying the late lawmaker was dedicated to his duties.

Ihedioha also described Amadi as a “wonderful personality,” saying he would ensure that the late lawmaker was immortalised by his administration when he assumes office.

On his part, Dogara said Amadi touched many lives and that he worked positively in the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians.
