As part of its corporate social responsibility, Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc has donated insurance books and research materials to the Department of Insurance/Actuarial Science of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaira. The Managing Director of Veritas Kapital Insurance Plc, Polycarp Didam, who disclosed this to journalists, said the donation was to share the success of his company with the university.
According to him, the donation would go a long way to help students of the department easily access insurance books and other relevant research materials.
Didam said: “This is our constituency, and whatever is needed to improve manpower and development for the industry is our priority.
“We believe that books are not only the first key to knowledge, but possess the power to advance the minds of our citizens and develop critical thinking among the youth.
“We hope that undergraduates of the Insurance Department of this institution will now and in the future benefit from the gesture.
“We believe that books are not only the first key to knowledge but possess the power to advance the minds of our citizens and develop critical thinking among the youth, if used accordingly to the benefit of the institution and students.”
The Head of Department, Actuarial Science and Insurance of the university, Yusuf Abdullahi, who commended the firm, said other insurance companies have also been making donations to the institution.
“These gestures have continued to boost the morale of the students and staff of the department. I encourage the companies to continue working on such projects as giving back to the society.
