Ahiara Pillars, a key socio-cultural and political organisation, has congratulated the Governor-elect of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha on his victory in the recent governorship election held on March 9, 2019.

Ihedioha would be the second person from Owerri zone, after the late Chief Evan Enwerem, to lead Imo.

In a statement signed by the National President of the association, Prince Iyke Nwaneche, the group described Ihedioha’s victory as “well-deserved and in the interest of Imo State and Imolites”.

The group noted that Ihedioha’s emergence at this time as governor was a sign of better things to happen in Imo State, and appealed to all and sundry to support his administration when he fully takes over the reins of power on May 29, 2019.

The statement read: “The patrons, executive and entire members of Ahiara Pillars heartily congratulate the Governor-elect of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, on his well-deserved victory at the recently held governorship election of our beloved state.

“We recognise how keenly contested the Imo State governorship election on March 9 was, and your resounding victory based on the overwhelming support you received from Imolites across the three senatorial zones.

“Having monitored your political journey, we are confident that you have the requisite experience and competence as well as intellectual and mental capacity to turn the fortunes of our state which is generally believed to have been largely run aground by the outgoing government around.

“As a critical stakeholder in Imo state, Ahiara Pillars joins other well-meaning groups and individuals in Imo to pray for the success of your tenure and to wish you God’s protection and guidance as you pilot the ship of our beloved state to anchor where all Imoliteswill be proud to say they have a governor who is service-oriented. Rest assured of our support in any area you deem necessary in the interest of our beloved state and for the success of your administration.”
