Gunmen Abduct Former NBA Chairman

The immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Jalingo branch, Mr. Joel Ubandoma, was yesterday abducted by unknown gunmen at his residence in Jalingo.

According to family sources, the gunmen stormed Ubandoma’s residence at Mayo-Dasa area of the town, at about 1:00am and whisked him to an unknown destination.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Taraba State Command, David Misal, said the command has swung into action to rescue him.

He, however, promised to brief the press about information regarding the abduction, and assured that he would keep them abreast of developments as they unfolded.

Also speaking on the development, the Publicity Secretary of the Jalingo branch of the NBA, Boniface Iorkumbur, said the news of Ubandoma’s abduction came to the entire NBA family in Jalingo as a rude shock.

Iorkumbur, who prayed for his quick release, recounted: “We woke up this morning with the devastating news of the abduction of our learned colleague, J. D. UbandomaEsq, the immediate past Chairman of our branch.

“He was reportedly kidnapped last night at his house at Mayo-Dasa area. In the interim, we urge our members to pray for his immediate, unconditional and safe release from his captors.”

He appealed to the security agencies in the state to intensify efforts and ensure his immediate release, saying no stone should be left unturned in securing his release.
