Supreme Court Judge, Bage Emerges New Emir of Lafia

A Supreme Court Justice, Justice Sidi Bage, has emerged as the new Emir of Lafia following the demise of the former Emir, Isa Mustapha Agwai, about two months ago in an Abuja hospital.

The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Osegba, announced the emergence of Justice Bage as the new Emir of Lafia while briefing journalists shortly after a meeting Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura held with traditional rulers at the Government House, Lafia.

The commissioner continued that the Supreme Court justice contested for the stool of the Lafia Emirate Council with Musa Isa Mustapha of Dala ruling house where the jurist, who is from Ari ruling house, polled four votes to emerge winner of the contest.

Bage, according to the commissioner, was appointed justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in December 2016, and has his selection as the new Emir of Lafia by the college of selectors approved by Governor Al-Makura.

Similarly, the governor has approved the selection of Isa Abubakar Umar as the new Sangarin of Awe, and Usman Dodo as the new Oso Kadako of Kadarko following their selection as by the various selectors of their respective traditional domains.
