Ortom Wins in Benue

The Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Samuel Ortom as the winner of the Benue governorship election and returned elected.

Ortom who led his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Barrister Emmanuel Jime with 81,554 in the March 9 governorship election that was declared inconclusive, scored an additional 23,430 votes in Saturday’s supplementary election to emerge winner with 434,473 votes. Jime scored 345,155 votes.

Ortom was declared winner of the election by the state returning officer Professor Sabastine Maimako on Sunday evening in Makurdi.
