Bode George, Babatope Say It’s Victory for Rule of Law

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George has hailed the victory of the party in Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal as victory for the rule of law and a confirmation of the saying the judiciary was the last hope of the people.

An elated George said that the judgment had opened the way for a greater Nigeria, adding that justice had prevailed for the party and the people of Osun at last.

Chief George while reacting to the declaration of the party’s candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the September 2018 governorship election said the Tribunal Justices by their decision had written their names in gold.

He added, “Nigeria that we thought people were despondent, people were angry but were quiet and I said this is like a graveyard silence. Don’t relent. This has confirmed that prayer is much stronger than physical power. It is going to be well with this nation.

“This result has opened the journey now to promised land. You cannot do anything that is hidden. I thank God Almighty that truth has prevailed and those justices have shown that no matter how long truth will prevail and they have allowed the will of the people to prevail.

“It’s a lesson to this country. I remember the day they were messing up the election there I kept talking to the people of Osun. Justice has prevailed.”

Also reacting to the ruling, former minister and PDP chieftain in Osun State, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, said the victory was for the Nigerian people in general.

“This is great victory for the Nigerian people. I am a proud Osun man, I am a proud Nigerian citizen. That they have declared Ademola Adeleke Governor is a great day for every Nigerian and those who believe in democracy.

“On 13th of November 1983, Baba Awolowo made a prophesy that many of us may never know democracy again no matter how long we live. But at 76 years of age I am very happy that I will report to Baba Awolowo when I get to heaven that God has answered our prayers and Nigerians now see democracy. “

“Atiku Abubakar will also win his Tribunal case. Nigerian judiciary has shown that they are capable of doing what many people thought they cannot do. We thank them let APC go to any court, we are going to get justice,” he concluded.

Obi Commends  Judiciary

The Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP in the Feb. 23rd election, Mr. Peter Obi has commended the Nigerian Judiciary on the victory of Sen. Ademola Adeleke and the PDP at the tribunal. Obi made this known through his Media Adviser, Mr. Valentine Obienyem.

Obi who described the judgement as the triumph of justice over the dictatorship of injustice aided by forces that do not mean well for the country, advised the APC not to appeal the judgement which, Obi says, if they do, would be a clear attack of a judgement  that was both  straightforward and redeeming.

Obi took the opportunity to encourage the judiciary to continue to be steadfast in the dispensation of justice especially now, according to him, other arms of Government are bent on fostering dictatorship on the country. “ As the bulwark of freedom and justice, once the judiciary capitulates, the country is as good as gone”, Obi said.

Analysing the effect of the judgment to nation-building, Obi said it renewed the faith of Nigerians in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.

Concluding,  Obi appealed to Nigerians to remain united in the fight against rigging, especially during the forthcoming supplementary elections. Describing rigging as the worst form of corruption, Obi  said any nation that encouraged  or condoned it  was sick unto death and must at least allow the judiciary to restore her through painful surgery.
