Seven Persons Feared Dead as Truck Plunges into River Niger in Kogi

No fewer than seven persons yesterday lost their lives as the truck in which they were travelling plunged into River Niger at KotonKarfe community in Kogi State.

The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Emmanuel Abe, who confirmed the accident, said that the truck plunged into Enyogi river , a tribute of River Niger at about 5a.m.

He disclosed that 37 persons were involved in the accident, adding that that many others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

According to him, both the injured and dead were taken to the Federal Medical Centre and the Kogi State Specialists Hospital, both in Lokoja.

The sector commander identified over speeding as the immediate cause of the accident, and appealed to motorists to abide by speed-limit rule
