Suspected members of the Boko Haram insurgency have again attacked Michika, the headquarters of Michika Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State,
A resident of Michika, Ussa Gebriel, said Boko Haram terrorists attacked their communities barely few days to the supplementary governorship election.
He said the attack was unfortunate as it may scare the electorate from voting come Saturday.

A resident of Bassa in Michika, Madam Amos, said she managed to escape to the mountainous areas for safety.

“Presently we are taking refuge at the mountainous areas as I speak with you, only God can help us now,” she said.
Another indigene of Michika, who gave his name as Mr. Paschal, told THISDAY that “I called home from Maiduguri, only to hear my sister crying and I could hear loud bang at the background. Shortly thereafter her phone went off. I am so scared now I couldn’t reach them again,”, he said.

A resident of the neighboring Bazza town, Abu James, said “we heard that Boko Haram people have entered a village called Kwapa, between Shuwa and Michika. So, we have been placed on red alert,” she said.

Also a former chairman of Michika LGA who pleaded anonymity, confirmed that “presently, we have fled to the mountains. Only God knows what will happen to us”.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abubakar Othman said he was yet to get the details of the attack.

“I am hearing about the attack from you, but please give me sometimes to verify what happened,” he said.
Michika is one of the 14 LGAs where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will be conducting supplementary governorship election on Saturday.
