KUDOS, SHEHU PAMBEGUA

Saturday letter2

The election of Shehu Yunusa Pambegua as member Kaduna State House of Assembly to represent Kubau local government is greeted with joy and jubilation. Being a direct beneficiary of the “Not too young to run law”, the engineer has fully prepared to take Kubau local government to greater heights. Kubau local government has suffered from poor representation in the last two decades. The former members who represented the area performed below expectations. The poor performance could be attributed to lack of deep knowledge, experience and the ability of the members to rub minds with the constituents on the problems affecting the local government. Moreover, the former members were not fully ready for legislative works. No wonder their several years in the state assembly failed to attract any benefits to the good people of the local government. That is the reason why the electorate described them as seat warmers who cannot add value to the lives of not only their constituents but also the state in general. It is in view of this leadership failure that compelled the people of the area to beam their search light for a credible candidate.

Luckily, the good people of Kubau local government found Shehu Yunusa suitable for the job. The graduate of electronic engineering from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, accepted the clarion call and threw his hat into the ring. Initially, he contested for the position of chairmanship of the local government but lost at the primary election. But he was dogged and resilient. At the just concluded gubernatorial and state assembly election, he was overwhelmingly voted for and declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, having polled the highest number of votes.
