Corps Member Delivers Boreholes to Katsina Community

As part of effort to boost water supply in Katsina State, a corps member serving in the state, Aliu Iliyasu has drilled two boreholes in Zamfarawa community of Funtua Local Government Area of the state.

The corps member with Registration number KT/18A/1413 has explained his decision to provide the boreholes, noting that it was due to the inability of the community members to have access to potable water for several decades.

At the inauguration of the boreholes in Funtua yesterday, Iliyasu said, “I observed that the people of this community always go to their neighbouring community, which a distance away early in the morning and evenings in search of water for their domestic activities”.

He reaffirmed that lack of good source of water “has infested the community with different kinds of skin diseases. Skin rashes is the major health challenge of the people especially their children which he said was as a result of lack of good sources of water for them to use.

Earlier, the State NYSC Coordinator, Hajiya Ramatu Sanda, called on other corps members to follow the footsteps of Iliyasu to execute similar community-oriented projects and make their host communities look better than they met them.

Represented by the scheme Community Development Service (CDS) Officer, Sanusi Ahmad, commended the Corps Member for executing the project, calling for proper utilization of the project by the host community.

Similarly, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) provided free medical outreach to 120 residents of Daddara in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina state.

Speaking during the outreach, the leader of the group, Dr. Amayo Kelvin Onyebuchi disclosed that most of the villagers were diagnosed of many ailments which were treated including eye test for those with “bad sights”.

Onyebuchi said the State Ministry of Health assisted them with drugs worth N250,000 which was part of what was dispensed at the outreach.

he explained that at least, 88 persons were diagnosed with visual challenges and treated while others were referred for eye glasses, noting that Many others who were diagnosed of other sicknesses were also treated.

“The outreach according to Onyebuchi will continue with other communities but expressed displeasure that most of the organizations contacted for Vehicles to enable them move materials down to the village turned down their request.”

He, therefore, appealed that where the NYSC cannot make provisions for the corps members, individuals and corporate bodies should assist for effective service delivery.

During the outreach, the state NYSC Coordinator, Hajia Ramatu Sanda applauded the state government and residents of the community

for creating the enabling environment for the corps members to operate.

Sanda, represented by the scheme Zonal Inspector, Bayero Sani called on Batch B and C corps Members to emulate the Batch A members and carry out more of similar outreach in other communities of the state.
