As the governorship and House of Assembly elections come up on Saturday, the Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has alerted supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state that the election will be much daunting than the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.

However, the governor called on supporters of the party in the state not to lose sight in the excitement and let their guards down over the party’s victory at the polls during the presidential and National Assembly elections as according to him, “A big challenge was up ahead of the forthcoming elections.”

He stated this Sunday during a stakeholders’ meeting of the state APC at the Government House, Lafia to review the party’s performance at the previous elections and to re-strategise for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections slated for March 9.

He said: “From what is gathered, the challenges of the governorship and Houses of Assembly elections will be much more daunting than the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.”

Al-Makura, who is a senator-elect for the Nasarawa south senatorial district during the presidential and National Assembly elections, congratulated the APC loyalists in the state for working hard for the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the state for the first time in history during the previous elections.

He also commended APC members in the state for sweeping all the three senatorial seats in the state for the party thereby pushing Nasarawa State into the forefront of APC states in the country.

He concluded: “I congratulate you that despite all the challenges during the elections, you were able to overcome them and bring to APC three Federal House of Representative seats out of the five allotted to the state.

“Nevertheless, I call on you all to get prepared for another hurdle to scale through. Consequently, I wish to remind you that it is only through commitment, proper planning, focus and hard work that would enable us to become victorious again.”
