Buhari Floors Atiku in Borno

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari has defeated his closest opponent Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State.

Buhari garnered 836,497 votes, which represented over 90 per cent of valid votes cast with Atiku scoring a paltry 71,788 votes less than 10 per cent of total valid votes.

The Returning Officer for the presidential election in Borno State, Prof. Saminu Ibrahim, the Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, said the number of valid voters was 2,319,434, number of accredited voters was 987,270.

He said the APC scored 836,497 votes with PDP polling 71,788 votes.

He revealed that the number of valid votes was 919,786 with rejected votes standing at 35,419.

He said 955,205 people cast their votes.

Prof. Ibrahim, however, regretted that there were some incidences recorded in three local governments of Abadam, Kukawa and Biu.
