Atiku Widens Victory Margin in Benue, Wins 12 of 19 LGAs Declared

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has widened his margin of winning in Benue by clinching 12 of 19 Local Government Areas already declared by INEC.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the election results were declared by various Collation Officers for the local government councils in Makurdi on Monday.

The results showed Atiku leading in Ukum, Opokwu, Guma, Ogbadibo, Gwer West, Buruku, Logo, Agatu, Apa, Ado, Obi and Gwer East LGAs.

Atiku’s closest rival, President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is trailing behind with 8 local councils.

The LGAs won by Buhari are Oju, Makurdi, Tarka, Ohimini, Otukpo, Ushongo and Konshisha.

The local government areas yet to be declared are Vandeikya, Kwande, Gboko and Katsina-Ala.

Benue North West Senatorial seat, being contested by incumbent Sen George Akume and Rep Orker Jev, was yet to be announced, leading to tension by supporters who besieged the INEC office for explanations.(NAN)
