Situating the Presidential Run

With the floor officially declared open for campaigns, the coming days promise to churn out more intricate intrigues and stupefying high wire politics, preparatory to 2019.

Already, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar has signed up to begin his campaign tomorrow, Monday, November 19 in Abuja, with the launch of his policy document, which would contain how he intends to direct the affairs of the country if he gets into the saddle of leadership next year.

Also, Atiku’s ambition received a major boost last week, when the Igbo leaders endorsed him. Although the endorsement didn’t appear to shake the camp of the president much, especially that the president had personally dismissed it, things appear to be working really good for the former vice-president.

For Buhari, one of his support groups recently appointed a former Inspector-General of Police, Mike Okiro as its chairman. How that is designed to help his cause is yet to be situated. In other news, a former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko has withdrawn from the presidential race. By this, the space is slightly freer.
