Senate Works Committee Wants Tin Can Trailer Park to be Ready by December

The contractor, Borini Prono, handling the construction of the Trailer Park opposite the Tin Can Port at Apapa has been told to ensure its completion before the end of next month.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, who led other members of the committee on oversight of some federal government road projects in Lagos State, charged the construction company to ensure they also incorporate, in the park, facilities like restaurant, heath centre

Senator Gaya said, “The contractor promised to complete the project by December next year. We are not taking it lightly, we are not happy with the progress of work; the project has been there for many years. We have told the contractor that the facilities at the trailer park are not enough. We intend to return next month to make sure that the project is completed. Funds have been released to the contractor and so they should not have any excuse.”

The committee members, who included Senator Barnabas Gemade, Senator Clifford Ordia, Senator Biodun Olujimi, Senator Mustapha Sani, and Senator Mao Ohambuwa, later inspected the 2-kilometre concrete road being constructed by AG Dangote in collaboration with Nigeria Flour Mills and Nigeria Ports Authority.

Senator Gaya commended the work being done by AG Dangote, saying “They are doing a great job; we understand they have another project coming and we wish them well. We need some concrete roads, whether in the North or in the South,” and urged the Dangote Group to keep it up.

The committee members inspected the slab replacement work/rehabilitation of Apapa Wharf road Rehabilitation of the failed section Ijora Apapa flyover and approach road by leventis, Apapa-Ijora via Duct.

Also inspected was the rehabilitation of Lagos ring road bridge abutment approach ramp to the Third Mainland Bridge at the Ilubirin axis of the bridge.

Their next stop was the Ikorodu-Sagamu road that is being reconstructed and the 1.5 KM road leading to the NNPC Depot at Mosimi off the Ikorodu-Sagamu road.
