Shettima Urges Corps Members to Shun Hate Speech

The Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima Monday admonished members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to undergo one year compulsory service to shun hate speech and indiscriminate use of social media to forment trouble in the society.

Shettima said this during the closing ceremony of the 2018 Batch ‘C’ corps members held at the Borno state NYSC temporary orientation camp, located at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Training College Katsina.

He said the society was currently facing a lot of challenges ranging from insecurity and hate speech, hence the need for youths to aviod act capable of truncating their future by contributing positively to the development of the nation.

According to Shettima, “It requires the collective efforts of our youth who are in better position to contribute positively to the development of our nation.

“In Borno State our attention is focused on the reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement programmes of our people that the insurgency problem affected their lives negatively”.

Shettima, represented by the State Chirman, NYSC Governing Board, Mahdi Gazali, however said the state government was doing everything possible within its available resources to return the state to the path of peace and development.

Speaking earlier, the state NYSC Coordinator, Rabi’u Aminu, urged the corps members to be steadfast in whatever task that might be assigned to them.

Aminu called on them not to abscond from their places of primary assignment, saying those who refuse to seek the right channel of communication before absenting themselves out of their duty post will be punished accordingly.
