Ishaku Inaugurates 80-year-old Hospital Renovated by Taraba Speaker

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, has inaugurated the General Hospital Warwar maternity ward renovated and equipped by the Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Abel Peter Diah.

Similarly, the governor inaugurated a spring water project initiated and executed by the Speaker at Ndarup community which brought the total number of water projects executed in Mbamga constituency by Diah to twelve.

Inaugurating the hospital, which was established in 1938 by the Baptist Missionary, Ishaku commended the Speaker for executing projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the constituency.

The governor enjoined other members of the State Assembly and other political office holders in the state to emulate Diah and key-in into the rescue agenda of his administration by executing projects to complement government’s efforts.

With the effort of the Speaker, Ishaku promised to embark on the renovation of the entire hospital which was taken over from the missionaries in 1974 by government to guarantee effective health care delivery in the constituency.

“I wish we have more members of the Taraba Assembly that will key into the rescue mission of my administration by massively executing projects like Abel Diah.

“The state government will take over the projects as requested by the Speaker and maintain them for for effective services for the well being of the people of Mbamga constituency.

“Join me to appreciate Abel Peter, my good ally in whom I am well pleased for keying into vision of the rescue government by renovating the befitting maternity ward. It is the right step in the right direction”

Governor Ishaku went ahead to announce the donation of an ambulance and incubating machine to the hospital just as he directed that six additional nurses be engaged to complement the existing manpower in the facility.

Speaking on the occasion, Diah disclosed that his childhood experiences in the remote community prompted him to renovate and equip the hospital which according to him was the only health facility catering for the people of the area and the Cameroon.

He expressed appreciation to the governor on behalf of the people of the area for personally visiting the constituency to inaugurate and take over the projects despite the difficult terrain dressing that Ishaku is the first governor to visit the area since the return of democracy in 1999.

The Speaker, who inaugurated the Ndarup Spring Water Project on behalf of Ishaku noted that the Inauguration of the water project marked the end of water scarcity in the constituency saying all the 10 major communities in the area now have portable drinking water through his intervention.

The Managing Director of the Engineering firm that executed the water project, Engineer Amos Kataps, disclosed that over 8km of pipe was laid from the source of the water to the community while the reservoir and the treatment plant has the capacity to serve three communities put together.

He further disclosed that though the water is being pumped and distributed through the force of gravity rather than by generator, his company has however trained five youths in the community as plumbers to ensure effective maintenance of the project.

The ceremony turned carnival like as the entire residents of Ndarup trooped out in their large numbers to welcome the Speaker and his entourage with cultural dances and displays even as they used the occasion to pledge their continuous support to him and the Ishaku administration.
