* Govt plans recruitment of teachers

The internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has finally been resolved with the State Executive
Council (SEC) reaffirming former Governor Ayodele Fayose as leader of the party and declaring the Chief Gboyega Oguntuase-led executive as the only recognised organ of the party in the state.
The caucus meeting was called consequent upon the controversies over a meeting held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in which the Senate
Minority Leader Biodun Olujimi was pronounced as leader of the party and a call was made for the dissolution of the state Exco.
The former Secretary of the party, Dr. Tope Aluko, who was the arrowhead of the controversial meeting, was at the Saturday’s
meeting.
Apart from Senator Olujimi, the six PDP National Assembly members, the senator representing Ekiti North, Duro Faseyi, as well as the House of
Representatives members — Kehinde Agboola (Ekiti North I), Thaddeus Aina (Ekiti North II), Ayo Oladimeji (Ekiti Central I), Segun Adekola
(Ekiti South I) and Akin Awodumila (Ekiti South II), among other party bigwigs present at the meeting.
In the communiqué signed by Prof Kolapo Olusola, Senator Faseyi, Hon. Agboola, Chief Ademuwagun and Hon. Akinyele, the party
declared total support for the presidential candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, saying that “members and supporters of the party in Ekiti
State will work assiduously to win the 2019 general election, most especially the presidential poll”.
The meeting declared Aluko a bona-fide member of the party in the state and also directed that all members of the party that defected to other parties for one reason or the other and are willing to return to the party should be embraced and accorded their due recognition.
The meeting set up two committees to look into the party account and secretariat as well as House of Assembly matters. Hon. Oladimeji was
appointed to chair the committee on party account and secretariat with Dr. TKO Aluko, Mrs Titi Owoseni and Chief Bola Olu-Ojo as members,
while Hon. Dare Omotosho will serve as secretary.
Meanwhile, the state Deputy Governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, has disclosed that more teachers will be employed in March next year to fill the vacancies that exist in public schools across the state.
Egbeyemi also explained that the Kayode Fayemi administration will invest more in agriculture to create jobs, reduce poverty and empower
the citizenry.
According to a statement on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Media, Odunayo Ogunmola, the deputy governor disclosed this while addressing the people of Egbe Ekiti in Gbonyin Local Government while on an inspection tour to public utilities.
Egbeyemi explained that the Fayemi administration will take care of all Ekiti people irrespective of their party affiliation in the provision of basic amenities like good roads, potable water, electricity and other
infrastructure.
“We will begin recruitment in the third month of next year, we will employ more teachers. The number of teachers we have now are no longer
sufficient. We will recruit more to make up for the shortfall of teachers as a result of retirement,” he said.
Speaking on the government’s plan for Egbe Dam, Egbeyemi disclosed that machinery has been put in motion to power the dam in order to get water across to people of the town and its suburbs.
“We are going round Ekiti to visit abandoned projects. If you get to the dam here, it costs us million of naira. We are only left with the
installation of a power generator that would power the dam,” he said.
