UNIBEN/NILDS Postgraduate School Calls for Fresh Applications

The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) in collaboration with the University of Benin has called for applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into NILDS/UNIBEN Postgraduate School.

A statement by the Director-General of NILDS, Prof. Ladi Hamalai, listed various Masters degree programmes available for the next academic session in the school to include: Masters in Parliamentary Administration, Masters in Legislative Studies, Masters in Legislative Drafting and Masters in Elections and Party Politics.

The statement also listed diploma programmes being run by the school as Postgraduate Diploma in Election and Political Party Management and Postgraduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting.

While highlighting admission requirements for the programmes, the director-general said qualifications for Masters degree in Parliamentary Administration, Legislative Studies and Elections and Party Politics include five credit passes at the Ordinary Level including English Language.

She also stated that a prospective applicants for Masters degree in Parliamentary Administration and Masters degree in Legislative Studies must hold Bachelors degrees, with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in relevant areas from recognised universities.

The director-general added that applicants for Masters degree in Elections and Party Politics must hold Postgraduate diplomas in relevant areas from recognised institutions with at least 60 per cent cumulative grade point average (CGPA).

On the other hand, Hamalai said applicants for Masters degree in Legislative Drafting, must in addition to possessing the Ordinary Level requirements as stated above, hold a Bachelors degrees in Law with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from recognised universities.

In addition, she listed qualifications for Postgraduate Diploma in Election and Party Management to include the Ordinary Level requirements stated above and bachelors degrees from recognised universities, not below Third Class, in related areas.

In the same vein, she said holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with Upper Credit from recognised institutions or relevant professional qualifications can apply for the programme.

While the duration for all full-time Masters degree programmes is a minimum of four semesters, the duration for full-time Postgraduate Diploma programmes is a minimum of two semesters.
