The Lure of Lagos Book and Art Festival

From November 5 to 7, the literati will swarm around Freedom Park Lagos for the Lagos Book and Art Festival (LABAF). The festival is a seven-day feast of ideas with the theme, “Renewal: A World That Works for All.’’

Organised by the Committee for Relevant Art (CORA), the festival will open with the “Young Theatre Feast’’, which features troupes from Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Germany and Sweden.

Other festival offerings include a documentary film on LABAF at 20; an art seminar in honours of Kolade Oshinowo at 70; nights of poetry performances; conversations with authors and publishers; screening of Tunde Kelani’s classic movie, “SaworoIde’’ as well as an interesting session with business leaders tagged, “Why I Read What I Read.’’

Moderated by the consummate journalist and former Presidential Spokesman, Reuben Abati, this session features Founder, Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia; MD, Pillar Oil, Spencer Onosode; MD, NigeriaLNG Tony Atta and MD, Marine Platform, Taofeek Adegbite.
