The Minister for Information and Culture and leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said all the 12 aggrieved governorship aspirants of the party in the state have agreed to work with the winner of the just concluded primaries of the party, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, to ensure the electoral success of the party in 2019 general election in the state.

The development, according to THISDAY checks, might not be unconnected with the series of insinuations that has greeted the emergence of Abdulrasaq as the candidate of the party.

This disaffection among the aggrieved aspirants over the outcome of the primaries however prompted the recent parley President Muhammadu Buhari had with the 12 aggrieved aspirants at Aso Rock where the president asked them to remain loyal to the party and worked as a team towards the victory of the party.

Mohammed stated this in his home town of Oro in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state yesterday while speaking with journalists on the new political development in the state APC.

He said: “I have met with the 12 aggrieved aspirants of our party in the state. They had forgotten the past and have gotten their assurance to support the party’s governorship candidate, Abdulrasaq, for the electoral victory of the party in the next year general election.”

According to him, “I personally spoke with all the aspirants who participated in the governorship primary election, and I am happy that they’ve all agreed that it is by working together with our party candidate that we can ensure victory in 2019.

“The governorship candidate, on his own, has also met with his co-contestants, and the cord of unity has been assured. We are good to go!”

The minister, who used the occasion to call on the members of the party to continue to be more united, said the gesture would no doubt help the party to move forward.

He therefore assured the people of the state that the party would boost their socio-economic development if elected into political offices in the next year general election.
