…Ex-lawmaker wants Ekiti IGR under Fayose probed

The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has denied the allegation that his government has collected a sum of N30 billion from the federal government within the last one week.
Fayemi said he was determined to run an open-door policy where government’s dealing won’t be shrouded in secrecy, saying nothing has accrued to the state since he took over from Governor Ayodele Fayose on October 16, 2018.
Fayemi was sworn in on October 16 by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State,
Justice Ayodeji Daramola, to superintend over the state affairs for the next four years.
In a statement by his Special Adviser, Media, Yinka Oyebode, in Ado
Ekiti yesterday, Fayemi said: “The attention of Ekiti State
Government has been drawn to some malicious reports from some quarters that the new administration has received N30 billion from the federal government in the last one week.
“We would have ignored this baseless rumour that is being circulated on social media by some unscrupulous individuals, but for the sake of the public that could be misled in the process.
“The fact remains that the new administration has not received any money from the federal government or any of its agencies since its inauguration a week ago.
“As a responsible government that believes in accountability and transparency, this government will always provide correct information to the people on all its transactions and will not hide anything from the people.
“Members of the public are thereby assured of regular briefings on the
finances and developments in the state. The era of government by deceit and falsehood has ended on October 15, 2018.
“The present administration is focused on meeting its obligations to workers, pensioners and the public and will not be distracted by lies being told by remnants of the crumbled Ayo Fayose dynasty.”
Meanwhile, a leader of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Hon
Bamidele Faparusi, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) to be diligent in former Governor Fayose’s prosecution over his alleged involvement in N1.3billion arms fund.
Fayose, is presently standing trial in the Federal High Court, Lagos for allegedly collecting the money from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki to fund his governorship campaign in 2014.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti yesterday, Faparusi said he never expected Fayose to deny collecting the alleged stashed fund with high calibre witnesses already lined up to testify against him.
Faparusi, former member of the House of Representatives, appealed to the anti-graft agency to beam its searchlight on the state, alleging that more corruption was perpetrated by the governor in the execution of some projects.
