Supporters of former Kano State Governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, under the auspices of Kwankwasiyya Youth Wing, have called on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to investigate the state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, over allegation of corruption.

The members of the group, who are of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also called on the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to urgently wade into the matter to thoroughly investigate the allegation and act according to the law.

In a press conference to mark the 60th birthday of Kwankwaso in Kano yesterday, the group condemned the allegation, and urged the two anti-graft bodies to as a matter of urgency, embark on a transparent investigation.

It maintained that the investigation over the matter of corruption would uplift the status of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari that holds anti-corruption war as its cardinal principle.

The Kwankwasiyya stalwarts also restated the commitment of Kwankwaso, a senator representing Kano Central, to support PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2019 general election.

According to the Chairman of the group, Kabiru Getso Haruna, “As a culture of Kwankwasiyya disciples, we normally gather every year on a day like this to commemorate the birthday of our leader, not only because of the positions of authority he has held in this country, but because of the unique qualities he possesses.

“He has touched the lives of his subjects. His exceptional and consistent focus on the advancement of the masses has continued to endear us to his ideals.”
