Ex-Minister, Nenadi Usman Grief-stricken

Nenadi Usman, a former Minister of Finance has again, been  thrown into a pensive mood, following the death of her niece, Anita Akapson. The late Akapson was allegedly “ trailed, targeted, intercepted and shot dead by four policemen in the middle of the night” last Saturday in what they later described as a case of “mistaken identity.”

It was reported that the woman, who recently returned to the country after her university education in the United Kingdom, was driving out of her house at Katampe Extension by Gwarimpa Estate in a Honda Accord car when she was shot dead by a Superintendent of Police around 11p.m.that fateful Saturday.

Although the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the detention of policemen allegedly involved in the death of the deceased, there have been uproar in many quarters, particucarly the leading opposition party in Nigeria, PDP.

The PDP alleged that this could be deliberately targeted at the woman whose name was among the list of those banned from travelling abroad by the Federal Government.
