Balanle Ambode, Mamodu, Ali Baba, Others Honoured at 6th Glam and Essence Awards

Wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, media guru, Bashorun Dele Momodu and Ali baba Akpobome were among dignitaries honoured at the 6th Glam and Essence Awards and Runway Show, 2018 held recently at the Red Carpet Event centre, Oniru Victoria Island, Lagos. 

It was indeed a colourful evening, hosted by MC extraordinaire, Oladele Ogunlana. The event was graced by several celebrities in the business of fashion and beauty.

Multi award winning singer, J’odie, performed her evergreen hit song,” kuchi kuchi” and it was well received. 

It was indeed an array of fashion icons and designers, so were there different displays of styles, which lit up the Red Carpet and inside the hall. It was not just about the dresses and colours, but they all oozed class and quality.

The list of those who made bold fashion statements included Ndidi Obioha, Data Okorodudu, Remi Talabi, Azuka Sonzy, Uju Murphy, Ozinna Anumudu, Bimbo Ademoye, Bunmi Ayuba, Buky Latunji, Olori Ranti Ajayi, Ex Miss Nigeria, Helen Prest Ajayi, who attended with her beautiful kids and several others.

This year’s edition saw the designers taking their game on the runway to the next level with their amazing styles. Little wonder they are setting a pace with their craft, from the Remi Talabi led Grace Couture, who made her debut appearance on the runway, to award winning designers, Ejiro Amos Tafiri, Data Okorodudu of JD7 Couture and Azuka Sonzy’s House of Loisonell, who all hit the runway in grand style.

Special recognition award winners were the Humanitarian award, which went to Mrs. Bolanle Ambode for her various achievements with empowering women and the education of children; Bashorun Dele Momodu for being an Influencer in the Media, while Ali baba Akpobome was honoured for being an Influencer in Entertainment.

Mrs. Shade Okoya bagged This year’s Style Icon, while Sir Dr. Ernest Nwaigbo was honoured for his contribution to making Medical support available to those in the rural areas in his state. Mr. Patrick Agbaza was recognised for his contribution to real Estate hopefuls in achieving their dreams, while Man of Style for 2018 was Mr. Lai Oriowo.

Mrs Data Okorodudu was specially honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award in Fashion; Mrs. Banke Meshida Lawal for Beauty and Iyalaje of Apapa Princess Toyin Kolade was honoured for Business.

Other award winners were:

Style Personality of the Year, which went to Mrs. Ndidi Obioha; Most Outstanding Red Carpet Presenter, 2018, this Award went To Mr. Denrele Edun

Most Outstanding Bespoke Fashion Brand was won by House of Loisonell; Most Outstanding Make-up Artist was Ms. Joyce Jacob; Men’s Custom Designer of the Year was Mr. Evans Akere, CEO, VANSKERE for his Recognition of Unique Creativity as a Men’s Apparel Designer. 

Most Outstanding Young Style Influencer was won by Ms. Ozinna Anumudu, for her Outstanding Work as a Style Consultant; Most Outstanding Style Diva 2018 went to Abisola Kola-Daisi. Beautician of the Year was won by 

Mrs. Fifi Safia Usman, the CEO of D MOON SPA for her recognition in Outstanding Performance as a Beautician. Most outstanding Hi fashion designer was Bunmi Ayuba Badejo of Tailormade Fashion.
