Plussize Fashion Week Africa (PFWAFRICA) team is calling on designers to showcase their designs at this year’s edition. The event is all about a fashion runway show that highlights plus size models and apparels.
Set to hold on Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4 at the Main Banquet Hall, Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, this year’s edition will feature a plus size runway fashion show tagged, #AfricaNextPlussizeModel competition, a fashion gala night, a master class and exhibition booths to create a unique shopping experience for consumers.

PFWAFRICA is aimed at maximising the growing focus on the plus-size fashion industry and also the promotion of the African culture so this year’s Plussize Fashion Week Africa has the theme, #BeautifullyMe and it is all about self-awareness and body positivity.

Following the success of the maiden edition, this year’s edition promises to be even more exciting and enlightening and it is billed to attract over 700 people, who will be exposed to various designs and fashion pieces.
To this end, organisers are calling on all talented Plus-size designers to showcase their craft on the runway and show every plus-sized woman that they are beautiful regardless of their body size.

The Plussize Fashion Week Africa, according the founder, Mrs. Temi Aboderin-Alao, was birthed out of the need to stop the stigmatisation and body shaming of the plus-sized woman.
She said: “We believe that every woman should be comfortable in her skin and body regardless of what the society thinks as long as they are healthy.”

Aboderin-Alao also hinted that registration is ongoing and interested designers can sign up on http://plussizefashionweekafrica.com/designers/Or send email to: designers.pfwafrica@gmail.com/
Opening in Lagos for the second edition, this is the only fashion runway show ever dedicated to Plussize designers, models and apparels.

In support of Nigerian tourism and business hub opportunities, the event is open to a host of local, international and diaspora designers and models who are willing to be part of the event.
“Last year we also extended our links to welcome UK based and US-based designers for this event, which proved an enriching experience of cultural diversity, reflective of our ever globalising world”, Aboderin-Alao said.
