Insurgency: Group Accuses NGOs of Paying Upfront 10 Years Hotel Accommodation in Maiduguri

A group, Concerned Professionals Congress (CPC), has accused unnamed international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) of making 10 years upfront payment for hotel accommodation in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The group also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his independence day speech renewing his determination to flush out terrorists from the North-east.

A statement issued in Abuja and signed by its National Coordinator, Yakubu Tilde,  and Chief Media Strategist, Emeka Nwapa, said the NGOs had made upfront payment for hotel accommodation for the next 10 years.

This, it said, was an indication that some of the organisations were working for forces bent on ensuring that the war never ends.

“Go to Maiduguri today, the NGOs have booked all the hotels and guest houses for 10 years or more.

“So they want the war to continue for the next 10 years. If you don’t make proper hotel arrangement before going to Maiduguri you will be stranded.

“The several NGOs being sustained by international donors also complicate matters like Amnesty International.

“They make false human rights abuse claims in order to demoralise and frustrate our troops from making headway. They don’t want the war to end so they don’t condemn Boko Haram,” the group alleged.

The group expressed confidence in the resilience shown by the armed forces led by Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Anayomi Olonishakin, and the service chiefs to guarantee national security and stability as the country enters another cycle of election in 2019.

The group commended President Muhammadu Buhari for promising to improve troop conditions while appreciating the supreme sacrifice paid by soldiers while fighting for the security, stability and sovereignty of Nigeria.
