Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and Dr. Mahmood Halilu Ahmed yesterday rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Adamawa.
Consequently, the governorship aspirants asked the APC National Working Committee to cancel the outcome of the primary election, which they alleged, was fake and fictions.
They made the allegation in separate statements yesterday, alleging that the governorship primary election was never held anywhere in the state.
In his statement, Ribadu said he was surprised that the state governor, Alhaji Jibrilla Bindow announced fake and fictitious results of primary election that was never held.
He said, “We demand the immediate cancellation of the so-called results being announced currently as they are figures cooked up by shameless persons who have no credibility and popularity to withstand free and fair contest.
“We reiterate that no election has taken place anywhere in Adamawa State and it is therefore impossible to declare any result. The party executives at the wards and local government levels should be immediately disbanded as they have demonstrated their bias and showcased that they cannot be fair and just to all party members.
On his part, Ahmed noted that no primary election took place in the entire state, saying the process has been hijacked by the state government and its conspirators.
He noted that despite the fact that the exercise was marred by confusion, and non or late arrival of election materials and officials, contrary to the electoral guidelines as espoused by the chairman of the primary election committee.
Ahmed alleged that due to the preponderance to electoral malpractices, the chairman directed that the primary election be suspended on Friday night.
He said, “At about 7 pm Friday night, sensing that the exercise was not going to hold according to the laid down guidelines, the chairman of the primary committee, Maj.-Gen. Tijani Jubril ordered that the exercise should be stopped.
“Despite the detectives, we heard that the primary election was held in the night in primary schools, private houses were there was no light and agents of the contestants.
“The entire exercise was fraudulent, done in the dark, carried out by the officials of the state government and their agents, and we still call this election?”
The aspirant, therefore, described the entire exercise as null and void in its entirety noting that even in Banana republic, such electoral heist could not be accepted.
He said, “The guidelines were flouted with impunity to the extent that an electoral officer, Mr. Peter Nwadozie who supervised the exercise in Mubi North local government announced the result of the election and declared one of the aspirants as the winner on camera.
“Even before the commencement of the exercise and arrival of materials, the state government officials were on social media posting outcome of election that did not take place. l will not accept this result, even if it favours me because the whole process has been compromised,” Ahmed lamented.
