Politics can’t Thrive without Rancour, Disagreement, Says Bauchi Gov

The Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has opined that politics cannot thrive without rancour, disagreement and misunderstanding among politicians, which according to him, are geared towards a virile and enduring democratic process.
Speaking to newsmen following his victory as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general election, the governor commended APC members in the state for finding him worthy of a second chance to fly the flag of the party in 2019.

Abubakar, who assured them that with their unalloyed support the party will repeat the feat of 2015 when it defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that was in power then, said: “In 2015, the state had its son as the national chairman of the PDP. It had the then FCT Minister in the PDP and more importantly the PDP was in control of the state yet, we defeated them to be where we are now.”

While answering a question on what he intends to do to bring everyone back to the APC fold to ensure victory in 2019, the governor stated: “In 2015, I visited all the contestants immediately after the primaries to solicit for their support. In Sha Allah, I am going to do the same thing this time around. I have already started the move by talking to the elder brother of one of the contestants to make peace with all.”

Abubakar, who could not hide his excitement, also said: “It has never crossed my mind that I am not coming back as the governor in 2019 because my party has done so well to win the confidence of the electorate in the state. Considering what we have done, I don’t have any political setback.”

He then appealed to the entire members of the APC to once again demonstrate that the party is on ground in the state and is ever ready to return it to victory at all levels.

He said the state government’s internally generated revenue (IGR) has improved due to some measures taken by his administration, adding that he has directed the management of the State Internal Revenue Board to sanitise its collection system  in order to achieve the set objectives.

The governor said since the inception of his administration in the state, it has achieved a lot especially in the areas of infrastructural development, renovation and construction of healthcare centres and schools among others.
