A human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Femi Falana has urged one of the newly-conferred Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, to use his membership of the inner bar to advance societal transformation.

Falana who disclosed this yesterday in Lagos at a reception organised in commemoration of the elevation of Olumide-Fusika to the rank of SAN, said there was need to transform the society from poverty to prosperity.

Falana who pleaded with the senior lawyer to support the junior lawyers through training and mentoring, urged him to keep up the good work he had embarked on and remain dogged in pursuit of justice and fairness.

“When you sit in the front row in the court room, invite junior lawyers to sit with you. Use your membership of the inner bar to advance the cause of our society from poverty to prosperity. Our society is one that needs to be transformed from poverty to prosperity,” Falana added.

He urged him to support the poor in the society and engage in activities that would improve their overall wellbeing.

“When you make money, think of the poor and when you take from the rich, service the poor. You are a great man and your case is a case of delay is not denial. You are welcome to the inner bar,” Falana said.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Sovereign Trust Insurance, Chief Ephraim Faloughi, extolled the virtues of Olumide-Fusika, saying his conferment as SAN was due to his tenacity, hardwork and the zeal for the legal profession over the years.

He charged him to remain committed to his core values and remain resolute in his pursuit in life.

He added: “You have remained committed and resolute in your pursuit in life. We are witnessing the outcome of consistency and excellence over the years. Your wife has stood with you through hard times. I commend her support. The children should emulate their dad, in that they will become great in life.”
