Deji Doherty’s Ambition

Deji Doherty’s Ambition

A dream doesn’t become a reality through magic; it takes, determination and hard work. Perhaps, this is the impetus driving Deji Doherty, a businessman and serial governorship aspirant. He has tried unsuccessfully to become the governor of Lagos State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, without luck.

A source disclosed to Society Watch that he might re-activate his dream once again, as the next general election approaches.

“It seems the man is not tired; he is determined to achieve his dream this time around. He wants to cash in on the crisis rocking the ruling party, APC,” the source said.

Doherty was born into the Doherty dynasty of Popo Aguda in downtown Lagos Island area of Lagos State in the 1960s.

Upon graduation from C.M.S. Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos, he proceeded to Chicago, Illinois in the United States of America, where he bagged a degree in Industrial Engineering.

Following his return to Nigeria – after having fulfilled the requirements of the NYSC- he worked briefly with a multinational Agro Allied Trading Company called Cargill Inc, which was then the biggest trading company in the world. Doherty is the chairman of DAIN Group, which includes Dohagro Industries and 10 Degrees Event Centre, among others.
