Last Saturday, award-winning Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo, popularly known as Nino, joined other celebrities to grace the sixth edition of Dabira Women Conference 2018 with the theme, ‘Re-Defining You!’ The conference covered various factors affecting women’s lives, including sexual abuse, adverse childhood experience, social and cultural factors, poverty and other traumas. The annual one-day conference is aimed at helping women influence change in their lives.
Women from different walks of life including Presidential aspirants, Elishama Ideh, Dr. Olatokunbo Oseni, Mrs. Ekaete Augustine-Edet converged at the event. It was moderated by the Managing Director of Z-Edge, Mrs. Kikelomo Ikepo Abass, fondly known as Kiki. She used her vast experience as a media personality to interrogate the all-men panelists on many life struggles women go through, from a man’s perspective. The discussion panel included Bolanle Ninalowo, gospel artiste Peter Linus, On-Air-Personality, Oscar Oyinsan and business analyst, Kayode Odebiyi.
Kiki was the former head of entertainment desk, Silverbird Television in 2006 and the lead journalist and correspondent for AIT. She has also worked as a Senior Correspondent and columnist with Nigerian Compass newspaper in 2008.
Speaking on the theme, the host, Lara Odebiyi, expressed her joy at being consistent throughout the six years of her mission. Others like renowned United Kingdom speaker, Norva Semoy Abiona and Dr. Kemi Jorge-Oyewusi also encouraged the women to understand their worth and push beyond boundaries.
