Mortgage and Real Estate Academy (MORE) Academy), a Public Private Partnership between Centre for Management Development, a Parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning and Western Atlantic Corporation Limited, will host her “First Award of Excellence” for practitioners and professionals in Nigerian mortgage and real estate industry.
The event, which will hold annually, is scheduled to take place on October 19, 2018. It was conceived to encourage healthy competition and drive for quality housing delivery to meet the huge shortfall in housing supply in Nigeria.
The Chairman, MORE Academy, Dr. Adejuwon Akinfolurin stated this during a Press Conference held in Lagos recently, adding that the country had been facing serious residential housing deficit which is affecting the quality of life and living standard in Nigeria.
“The Buhari administration has been doing a lot to encourage stakeholders in the industry to enhance their capacity to produce more affordable housing for the populace in order to cut the shortfall,” he said.
He stated that there has also been a lot of improvement in the recent years in the types, quality, as well as innovative standards occasioned by technology to deliver better quality housing for Nigerians.
Akinfolurin stated that as a support service institution which has a major responsibility to provide the needed capacity building for the industry, MORE Academy has come up with the 2018 First Award of Excellence to encourage and promote healthy competition among stakeholders and provide a platform that will motivate people to do more for the industry.
MORE Academy is not just giving out awards, we are producing for the industry a Compendium which is going to be about160 pages document to celebrate not only the awardees but the entire industry, he said.
Akinfolurin said the compendium will be a documentation of enduring value that will be used to showcase the activities and achievements of the industry on a yearly basis.
Such compendium, will be at every Government, Private and Foreign offices lobby, lounge and receptions for increased awareness, he said,
He stated that efforts are geared towards providing more opportunities for industry stakeholders to excel and also take advantage of opportunities provided by MORE Academy to train their employees, as well as professionals in the Mortgage and Real Estate Industry in order to avail themselves of the world class training modules offered by our academy.
Akinfolurin also said that the award would really encourage development because competition is healthy for growth. As a result, consumers will be more interested in the products that have been adjudged to be the best standard in the industry.
“Therefore, this will not only increase the patronage of awardees but instill confidence in the consuming public thereby continually encourage stakeholders’ rivalry resulting in bringing the best into the industry at large,” he said.
