Diala Boosts Special Athletes Ahead of National Sports Festival

Lagos-based sports philanthropist, Collins Diala has boosted special athletes in and around the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, by donating a standard wheelchair and over 20 pairs of sporting wear ahead of the National Sports Festival due to hold in Abuja later in the year.

Diala, who was touched by the doggedness of special athletes over the years, said his donation was his own token of appreciation for the special athletes.

Diala who was celebrating his birthday on Wednesday morning handed top female Para- lifter Chikaodiri Anigbogu a standard wheelchair after she won a ballot. The exciting moment came after brand new sports wears went to over 20 other special athletes preparing for the National Sports Festival.

“Yes, it’s my own way of motivating these special athletes and I want other sport loving individuals and the corporate world to join the effort to encourage special athletes. We cannot afford to ignore them because they have always brought glory to Nigerians at both home and abroad.

“In the past, I celebrated my birthdays at orphanage homes/less privileged persons homes, but this time around I reasoned that I must touch lives of special athletes because they have been doing a lot for the country and they would do more,” said Diala.
