Emily Nwosu: Indeed Heaven Gained an Angel

CSP Ken Nwosu

In prosperity, our friends know us, in adversity, we know our friends”

John Churton Collins British Literary Critic (March 1848 – September 1908).

Heaven indeed gained an angel when my dear mother, Mrs. Emily Ada Nwosu, (nee Onumaegbu), Justice of Peace (JP), exited this earthly plane on Sunday, May 13, 2018. She was 71 years old.

Born on April 24, 1947 to the Onumaegbu family, mama was a teacher of great repute with specialty in early child education. She taught and mentored many generations in an illustrious career that spanned over 35 years; yours truly inclusive.

She was a devout Christian, consummate community leader and great mobiliser of women, men and resources for worthy causes and won virtually all available award, honour and recognition those vocations have on offer. She was a great influence and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

To honour her in advancement of her peaceful eternal rest, her funeral was slated for Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St John’s Church (Anglican Communion) Itaja na Amuzu Parish, Olokoro, Umuahia South LGA, Abia State by 11am.

On that appointed day, we were joined by family, friends, associates and well wishers when the mortal remains of my dear mother was committed to Mother Earth for final journey into the Pearly Gates.

Born Humble but attained greatness in her own right by dint of hard work, she left in a fanfare of glory after blazing many trails considering her trajectory.

It was a roll call as people from diverse walks of life thronged into our modest home to pay obeisance to the life and times of our Matriarch and we have all of you friends and associates to thank for the honour done to our Mum.

In life, she loomed large within her circles; in death, she loomed even larger as tributes poured in from numerous quarters including the Zenith of power in Nigeria.

Those who never knew or met her wrote moving prose, poetry, dirge and epitaphs because through us her kids, they saw her and crafted who she might have been.

It was touching to see Mama depart but we are comforted by her teachings, her lifestyle, her pedigree and the name she left behind. Fare the well, Mama.

She is sorely missed by her three sons; Engr. Temple Tochukwu Nwosu (MNSE, COREN), CSP Kenneth Nwosu, DSP Uchenna Kingsley Nwosu and daughter; Mrs. Clarine Chibunna Nwosu-Ugbaja and 10 grandkids and a host of other relatives.
