Stakeholder to Discuss New Payment Solutions at PoS Summit

Industry stakeholders are set to discuss evolving technology solutions and their benefits within the payment space at the third quarter edition of the Point of Sale (PoS) Innovation Summit, scheduled to hold September 19 at the Wheatbaker, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The event, which is expected to drive innovation in the PoS cashless payment sector, will also highlight the various opportunities available to retail merchants for payment processing in light of the various ingenious solutions being rolled-out almost on a daily basis.

Themed: “Expanding Retail Merchants’ Possibilities”, the organisers of the summit, Global Accelerex Ltd, a leading Payment Terminal Service Provider and Payment Solution Service Provider, revealed that the Committee of e-Business Industry Heads (CeBIH) of all banks operating in the country, has given its support as co-hosts.

The newly-elected CeBIH Chairman, Mr. Stanley Jacob, who expressed delight at the opportunity to partner Global Accelerex on this edition of the summit, said: “Global Accelerex has been spearheading the move to improve service delivery in the PoS business sector and CeBIH is thrilled to be in this collaboration that provides an avenue where criticaldiscussions are encouraged for the progress of our industry.”

The global financial sector has witnessed a great deal of disruption that has resulted in a total turnaround in how payments are made. The Nigerian payment system has also evolved, and this has been accelerated by the introduction of a plethora of products and services by payment solution service providers that facilitate payments in the most unconventional ways through QR Codes, PoS terminals, mobile phone numbers, social media platforms and Near Field Communication.

Commenting on the theme of the Summit, Managing Director of Global Accelerex, Tunde Ogungbade, stated that the summit has proven to be an avenue for strategic deliberation that culminates into innovative e-payment products and believes that “this edition will open a new phase of growth in the Nigerian e-payment sector with more comprehensive technology capabilities that will bring more value to merchants and improve the overall customer experience.”

Leading payment technology experts and Head, Business Development and Strategy, Primeauth, India, Mr. Masood Sheik, and the CEO, TeamApt, Mr. Tosin Eniolorunda, have been confirmed as keynote speakers for the event. Also expected at the event are merchants, system aggregators and regulators.

The summit will enlighten merchants on the myriad of payment options available to them, how to optimally utilise these with their services and products, and highlight the important role they play in the ecosystem. The event will also provide a platform of interaction between merchants and service providers, which promises to lead to better understanding of the needs and preferences of the merchants.
