Sage and Scholars Holds Seminar on Coping with Special Children

Abuja based resources centre, Sage and Scholars Lighthouse Academy will tomorrow, August 18, organise a break out session for parents, teachers and caregivers on raising high performing teens and coping with children with special needs.

The standout summit will address pertinent issues on parenting and it is coming at the end of the intensive five-week summer camp to equip children with the prerequisite knowledge and skills, relevant for driving them through life.

The parents’ day of the standout summit is themed: “Your Child Can be More”.
The founder of Sage Scholars and Lighthouse Academy, Mrs Adeola Remi-John, said the summit will offer parents 21st Century parenting skills, networking opportunity, in addition to meeting experts, who will offer perspectives on issues on child development.

The facilitators that will share insights at the programme are professionals and parents with years of experience. They are Indianavon Dangaru, Alero Allagh, Kelly Benedict and Remi-John.
Dangaru, a special needs consultant, will talk on coping with the task of raising children with Down Syndrome, Autism and the support parents need to give to children that are different.

Allagh, a school proprietress, will provide tips on disciple that work for children and the role to be played by a parent to ensure that a child is a good example, in terms of morals, disciple and character.

Benedict will advise parents on how to unlock a child’s potentials, in addition to how parents can translate a child’s creativity to become his passion. Remi-John, a life coach and career councellor, will focus on high performance particularly in the academics and the expected role of parents to see that their children excel.
“Ultimately, we want to look at the career options for the child. From that angle, the parents will be able to direct and guild the child with the necessary support to take him to the pedestal where he will get to the top,” Remi- John said.

Sages and Scholars Lighthouse Academy is a book-club that impacts life skills in children through mentorship, internship and vocational training.

The summer vocation camp was for children aged 5 to 11 years and offered experience that will foster lifelong learning and help kids maintain and sustain required social and life skills.
